United Nations Financial Sanctions Act

The United Nations Financial Sanctions Act is a new Act which enables the Government of Vanuatu to prevent terrorism and deal with other matters of international concern, and to give effect to Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations by imposing prohibitions arising from the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.


The Act outlines the designation processes by the United Nations Security Council and also by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu, guided by the National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC). The NSAC comprises of the Director Generals of the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Attorney General, the Commissioner of Police and the Chief Information Officer.


The Act also outlines the prohibition and authorisations relating to property.
