ALLEGATIONS ON ANDREW TATE

This press release is to clarify the Financial Intelligence Unit’s (FIU) position on the above subject matter.
In October 2022, the FIU received a request for probity checks to be conducted on the above mentioned from a Development Support Program (DSP) agent under the Vanuatu Citizenship Office,. Upon conducting the necessary checks we did not identify any adverse information on the applicant and informed the agent and the Citizenship Office accordingly.
Following the publication of the article on the above mentioned in the Daily Post Newspaper issue no. 7290 this week a re-review check was conducted on Mr. Tate of which adverse findings were found which listed the allegations laid against him that were published after he had been granted Vanuatu Citizenship.
The first reports were listed in June 2023 of a trial that begun in Romania. Thereafter, from March 2024 onwards further reports were listed of investigations that were opened in the UK on further allegations against the above mentioned.
Since then through our on-going monitoring program of Citizenship applicants the FIU has conducted its re-review of the Vanuatu citizen and has issued its updated findings to the Citizenship Office. The current Citizenship status of Mr. Tate is at the discretionary authority of the Citizenship Office.
